Whether you're a beginner or pro, these essential safety tips help reduce risk and improve jobsite efficiency.
Before starting your excavator, conduct a walk-around inspection. Check for fluid leaks, tire or track damage, loose pins, worn parts, and verify that all lights and alarms are functional.
Operators should wear a hard hat, reflective vest, safety boots, and hearing protection. Seat belts must be worn at all times while inside the cab.
Be aware of overhead power lines, underground utilities, and nearby workers or structures. Use spotters if working in tight or busy areas, and never operate too close to trench edges.
Avoid jerky movements, sudden swings, or high-speed turns. Maintain a balanced load, and keep the bucket low while moving to reduce the risk of tipping.
When finished, park on level ground with the bucket lowered. Turn off the engine, lock the cab, and remove the key to prevent unauthorized use.
